CELINE WALLACE
Sattva Soul Supplements began out of Sattva Soul Retreats, a Women’s Wellness Events and Retreats Company with events worldwide, from LA, NZ, and Bali, Indonesia. Through these retreats transforming women’s lives through different holistic healing practices, Celine Wallace; Sattva Soul’s Founder, thought it would be great if there was a way to support women in their daily lives so they could practice their own self-care and thus, Sattva Soul Supplements were born.
Celine went to India and Sri Lanka to study Ayurvedic medicine, which is the sister, holistic medicine to Yoga and Meditation. She worked with the finest doctors and practitioners to create the best ancient Ayurvedic supplement range and make it accessible to the modern man/woman so it can support them in their current lifestyles.Â
Sattva Soul Supplements are all natural, grown on organic farms in the northern mountains of Kandy, Sri Lanka and harvested, where they are delivered directly to you via Sattva Soul Supplements.
We caught up with Celine to discuss these supplements, her journey with Ayurveda and her upcoming wellness retreat.
Ayurvedic medicine – in brief what is this and why did you choose to study this form of medicine?
Ayurveda is an Indian holistic medicine system with a focus on preventive medicine. It first originated 5,000 years ago in India, in an ancient text scripture called the ‘Veda’s’ where yoga and meditation were also described.
I was drawn to Ayurveda because I was already teaching yoga and meditation, and I’ve always loved holistic healing over Western medicine and synthetic drugs. Since Ayurveda has stood the test of time, I wondered why it was more commonly practiced in Western society, and I became fascinated by its healing modalities.
I lived in LA for years when I began this journey, and saw people around me who had everything on the outside but were shells of human beings on the inside. They were barely functioning and living highly medicated lives, either on anti-depressants, sleeping pills, or anxiety medications operating at burnt out, just trying to get through the day. I have experienced burnout myself; with doctors offering me nothing but solution-based prescriptions, like sleeping pills, versus helping treat the cause and making lifestyle changes, so when Ayurveda changed my life, I knew I wanted to share it with others.
I love the philosophy of Ayurveda how it is a complete mind, body, and spiritual healing system, focusing on preventive medicine. Versus western medicine is treatment-based medicine with synthetic drugs that treats every physical body the same. According to our dosha (Ayurvedic body type), Ayurveda focuses on the fact that we are all different and need natural customized therapies, according to our dosha (Ayurvedic body type). Ayurveda is practiced around this dosha type, the energetic makeup within ourselves to balance or aggravate ourselves according to what we eat, what exercise we do, how we think, and our environment.
“According to our dosha, Ayurveda focuses on the fact that we are all different and we need natural customized therapies.”
What are Adaptogens? Why did you choose Ashwagandha as your first supplement?
Adaptogens are botanical substances, like herbs, that help the body adapt to stress naturally through regenerative properties and stabilize the body’s cortisol levels (cortisol is the stress hormone released when anxious or stressed, in our fight or flight response.)
Ashwagandha is Sattva Soul’s hero product because it’s an ancient Ayurvedic herb for stress, fatigue, and anxiety, and I was sourcing it for my retreat clients at their request. After a while, I thought it was the perfect product to lead with because name one person who isn’t stressed, anxious or exhausted in this hectic modern world?
Everybody’s feeling it and could use some natural support for their nervous system.
Tell us a little bit about your next wellness talk or retreat for those that would love to attend.
